Article review-chapter 1 (identity and learning)
Now, boys, just settle down, written by Azmi Sharom

The article is about how the teacher admonished his students' wrong. I agree with the view expressed by the teachers' behaviors but there were weaknesses and bad implications for the students. As we know, the propagation should be done gently and frugally not harshly or irritably by using harsh words. This way is totally not effective but futile, I am afraid and scared of it. Then, the aspect of the artic le displeased me is when the teacher urge student making an obscene gesture. Moreover when the teacher urged his student "keep it up and I will give you six strokes". This is so terrible when teacher urge his student like that. The teacher should not urge the student like that. It seems like the teacher threatening the student. They should give admonition to the student privately not to the public because it will embarrass the student. Honestly, the way used by the teacher in this article had spread the embarrassment of the student. In other word, they should consult with the student face to face. Furthermore, the words used by the teacher are so abusive. It is not good for the school environment. In addition, maybe it is true that head prefect was overzealous in obeying the school rules. However, that is no wrong if someone want to obey the rules. It shows that he or she is responsibility person. As we know, responsibility is an important moral value in our life. Next, the teacher should admonish head prefect gently about his mistake that caused angry of school stuff. Then, maybe the debate person has no experience before this, so that he had done mistake in debate. Actually, the teacher should not give warning but an advice. So, the students will accept the admonition of their mistakes. Nutshell, admonition should be done gently and it will better if the admonition is done secretly in two parties.
